A new unified super company of racing programmes formerly in the Andretti stable has been created and will be known as TWG Motorsports, bringing together the former Andretti Global range of leading motorsports organisations including the Andretti Formula E team.
The new set-up will essentially mirror the model set by the TWG Global sports portfolio that includes the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chelsea Football Club, Professional Women’s Hockey League and stakes in the Los Angeles Lakers and other ventures. TWG Motorsports is set to follow the same ‘transformative growth mindset to racing’ according to the new-look company.
The changes have come just a few months after former Andretti Global founder Michael Andretti stood down from overall day-to-day control of the motorsport programmes in which he launched over the last three decades.
Dan Towriss is set to lead TWG Motorsports as its CEO, while former NASCAR and FIA executive Jill Gregory will be the chief operating officer of TWG Motorsports.
TWG Global was founded last year featuring co-chairs Mark Walter and Thomas Tull. Walter is the chief executive officer of Guggenheim Partners, a privately held global financial services firm with more than $325 billion.
Tull is the former chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Legendary Entertainment and also the founder of Tulco LLC, an investment holding company that uses artificial intelligence and other technologies to guide investing.

“Dan (Towriss) has been instrumental in forming the landmark Cadillac Formula 1 team in partnership with General Motors and acquiring for TWG Global a broad racing portfolio that includes Andretti Global, Wayne Taylor Racing, and Spire Motorsports,” said Walter.
“We’re excited to see these teams united under the TWG Motorsports umbrella and Dan’s leadership,’’ added Tull.
“With a combination of operational excellence, technology and innovation, TWG Motorsports has the opportunity to drive true transformation in racing, set new standards for the industry and build a legacy of success across the globe,’’ added Towriss.
The TWG Motorsport range of companies will include the Cadillac Formula 1 squad in conjunction with General Motors to create the Cadillac Formula 1 team that is set to debut next season.
Additionally, Andretti Global which includes the INDYCAR Series team, INDY NXT and Formula E will be included, as will the NASCAR operation with entries in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Truck Series; the Wayne Taylor Racing set-up that races in the GTP and GTD classes of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Walkinshaw Andretti United programme that competes in the Australian Supercars Championship.
Andretti Formula E team principal Roger Griffiths told The Race website last month that he hoped the Formula E programme would “gather a little bit more prominence than in the past”.
“Andretti’s obviously been very much an IndyCar-orientated organisation for historical reasons but from my personal perspective I’d like to hope that we can see more of our leadership at Formula E events,” added Griffiths.
Speaking about Gregory’s announcement as CEO of TWG Motorsports, Dan Towriss said that “with Jill’s strategic vision and deep experience in motorsports, we’re positioned to redefine excellence across all facets of our portfolio, including the launch of the Cadillac Formula 1 team along with our partners at General Motors.”
In her new role, Gregory will be ‘responsible for the company’s day-to-day business activities, working closely with existing leadership from each race team to bring forth the holistic vision of TWG Motorsports, aligning on-track performance with commercial success.’
Her role was also described as being ‘instrumental in fostering the relationship with GM as the partnership works to bring forward the Cadillac Formula 1 team effort, and the GM Performance Power Unit Company. Additionally, Gregory will serve as president of Andretti Global.’
