Lando Norris, through his new LN4 Fusion initiative, co-founded by the reigning F1 World Champion, was seriously looked at being involved with a Formula E team recently.
Formula E Notebook can exclusively reveal that recent discussions took place about the possibility of LN4 Fusion being closely involved in a team programme as the Gen4 era kicks-off this December.
The sensational talks, which have been confirmed to FEN via several key senior sources in the championship, were only initiated last month before a succession of recent meetings scoped out the possibility of LN4 Fusion being involved in an entry.
LN4 Fusion acquired some key assets from the AIX Racing team recently and has undertaken application proccesses to join the F2 grid next season, in addition to planned F3 and F4 programs.
However, a branching out in to Formula E was never assumed to be part of these plans. But information obtained by FEN recently, indicates that LN4 Fusion was very much open to being part of the world’s only all-electric world championship, although this is now unlikely to happen, in a direct manner at least.

Norris visited the Monaco E-Prix in early May and spent time with Formula E CEO, Jeff Dodds, as well as several driver acquaintances, including Jake Dennis and Zane Maloney who are both from the same ADD management stable as the McLaren Mastercars F1 Team driver.
LN4 Fusion also confirmed recently that Rene Rosin, the former head of the Prema Racing stable, will serve as Team Principal. Additionally, well-known engineer Guillaume Capietto will be the Racing Director for the team’s overall operation.
Upon the recent announcement of the wide-ranging plans for LN4 Fusion, Norris himself detailed the rationale for a driver development programme, saying that “building a race team that can compete with the best in junior motorsport, with great people and a great environment for drivers to develop.”
How LN4 Fusion could have been involved
The most obvious way that LN4 Fusion could have got on the Formula E grid to race immediately was by being the mystery entity behind the currently named ‘NewCo Formula E Team that wants to race the two originally intended extra Porsche factory cars.
Porsche has been looking for an elegant solution to using its second licence ever since it became apparent that the original second factory team model was unlikely to happen.
It is not known absolutely if LN4 Fusion could have been involved in the ‘NewCo Formula E’ that FEN revealed last month but the presumption is that this was the entity it could have been involved with. FEN understands that scope may exist for a possible re-visiting of an involvement further down the line if the ‘NewCo’ team is activated fully.
Presumed to be a holding name for the planned entrant, NewCo Formula E Team, has expressed interest in going through the registration process for a possible 2026-27 entry. FEN understands that investors in it are believed to have been eyeing an involvement in a Formula E team for some time and have previous experience in motorsport.
The next steps for the process is an official registration process between Thursday 1st and Friday, October 16.

Competitors will be considered as definitively admitted after paying the full entry and audit fee which must be done by October 16, 2026. A list of entrants will be published by the FIA in early November.
